Anotace

The student will get acquainted with the basic areas of optics, which are geometric and wave optics. The student is able to solve related practical examples.

Knowledge: The student is able to define and describe the physical quantities of geometrical and wave optics, including the necessary general physical laws, to learn the practical use of optical phenomena and to get acquainted with the operation of optical instruments.

Skills: The student is able to apply theoretical knowledge to the calculation of practical problems using mathematical apparatus, especially differential and integral calculus and Fourier transform.

General competencies: In addition to theory, the student will be familiar with practical applications of geometrical and wave optics, such as imaging systems and instruments, optical fibers, interferometers, interference and diffraction of light using optical gratings, interference on thin films, holography, polarization of light and others.
