Anotace

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the knowledge of basic practically applicable methods of economic events analysis. First part deals with evaluation of dependence of numeric variables by the application of regression and correlation and with dependence evaluation of categorical variables with the help of contingency tables. Further part is devoted to dynamic events analysis – time series, their classification, location evaluation of dynamic events and to elementary development characteristics – simple models of trend and seasonality. The last part deals with the comparison of economic events – indexes theory, especially individual and total indexes.

Knowledge: Student knows, how to use basic principles of statistical dependence evaluation of numeric and categorical variables and corresponding basic characteristics (regression function, index and coefficient of correlation, contingency and association coefficients). Student knows and is able to use basic principles of social - economic events dynamics evaluation (chronological mean, absolute and relative growth characteristics, moving averages, trend function, seasonal indexes and constants, residual component characteristics). Student knows basic principles of temporal comparison on the field of social – economic events (individual simple and total indexes, value index, price and quantity indexes).

Skills: Student is able to solve real regression or correlation tasks and to analyze contingency or association table and to explain obtained results. Student is able to describe real time series issues including aspects of location, trivial dynamics characteristics, trend and seasonality and to explain the results. Student is able to calculate basic individual and total indexes, to make their decomposition and to explain the results on the field of economic reality.

General qualification: Student has overview of the quantitative aspects of social - economic events.  Student is able to apply the knowledge in other courses of his field of study and by the bachelor work elaboration.
