Anotace


Summary


The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic concepts and tools of management (profit or non-profit, small, medium and large organizations) and to create the basis for further development of acquired knowledge and skills in other courses of study and gain a comprehensive view of various fields of management. The lectures are focused on individual management functions, past evolution and future trends in management and management theory and other knowledge related to organization management. Seminars are oriented on the application of knowledge to the case studies from existing management practice, their presentation and discussion about possible solutions of problems and presentation and discussion of seminar works of students focused on the processing of basic topics of the course in selected existing companies or organizations.



Knowledge


Students know the essence and content of individual managerial functions, understands the substance
and meaning of different directions of management and knows the methods and techniques for solving typical situations in the implementation of various managerial functions



Skills


Students are able to apply knowledge to business practice or practice of other types of organization. They can apply different management methods and techniques, for instance, to evaluate and create a mission, vision or goal of the organization, to analyze the appropriateness of the organizational structure of a specific organization, to find and assess the opportunities and threats of a real organization as a basis for planning. Students are able to assess the suitability of different leadership styles for different situations etc.


 



General competencies


Students are able to work in a team and also to work and make decisions on their own.  Students also can create an idea and defend it. They can clearly present the achieved results of case studies or seminar work.
