Sylabus

  • Tourism in environmentally sensitive areas: nature conservation approaches and best practises abroad, tourism as a sustainable use of the landscape heritage.
  • Tourism sustainability theoretical concepts: definition, principles, destination life cycle, destination organisation, causal chain approach (DPSIR), tourism negative impacts monitoring.
  • Geotourism: geoparks as a sustainable destination concept – definition, mission, principles, levels of networking and its functioning.
  • Geoparks in the Czech Republic – existing geoparks and candidates: Bohemian Paradise, Egeria, Vysočina, Moravian Karst and Barrandien.
  • Central Europe Geoparks – past, presence and future: Kulturpark Kamptal, Novograd, Czech-Bavarian Geopark.
  • Ecotourism: definition, principles, benefits, forms, authorised guides and rangers.
  • Environmental certification and branding in tourism: definition, functioning, levels, topics (tourism sectors), situation in the Czech Republic and abroad.
  • Development cooperation via sustainable tourism development – case study: Ecotourism potential in Maniema (Kongo) - conditions, vision.
  • Tourism potential for cultural identity support - case study: opportunities and threats of tourism development on Eastern Island, geopark concept benefits.
  • Český Krumlov destination case study: destination life cycle, carrying capacity, tourism impacts perception, social exchange and core-periphery approach.

Anotace

 


Regardingstudents: to achieve the best possible level of understanding, interest, knowledge and skills in terms of their preparedness to work in environmentally innovative and locally based tourism enterprises, NGOs focused on an involvement of local people in tourism development, development cooperation agencies and also European, central and regional administration bodies supporting sustainable tourism development.


Regarding university: animprovementof methods and studying material for teaching the innovative and environmentally responsible approach to tourism destination development which takes into account also its social and economical needs. Lectures are stressing concepts of carrying capacity, destination life cycle, community planning, strategic planning, systemic, integrative and interdisciplinary approach, networking and environmental labelling and branding.
