Sylabus

• The aim of this course is to introduce some aspects and facts about the Czech Republic. This course presents both up-to-date theoretical and practical understanding of different areas of life in the Czech Republic; it aims to bring brief but complex information including the historical and political background. The course introduces the early history and political situation from the early existence of the Bohemian kingdom to the newly established democratic republic. It also presents significant personalities who influenced the Czech political, cultural and scientific scene and who strengthened the position of the Czech Republic within the other European states. Therefore, this course partly offers some answers to those who want to understand the essence of the Czech way of thinking and it gives some explanations about the current cultural and social situation in the Czech Republic.
