Sylabus
- The aim of the course is to give the student an overview not only about the history of the Czech lands, important personalities, and cultural monuments but also about contemporary life in the Czech Republic. After a brief introduction into the history of the country, the focus moves to particular important developmental stages of the state, from the Great Moravian Empire, the government of Premyslids and government of other dynasties, including the events which influenced the development up to the creation of the First Republic. Following the period of the Second Republic, the Second World War and post-war development. The essential part will be also concentrated on events of 1968 and 1989, and the circumstances connected with the formation of the independent Czech Republic.

An introduction to the history of the Czech Republic from the early beginnings up to the present days, with the accent on medieval life, system of government, economics, industry and agriculture, health system, educational system and other important aspects of life.
