Anotace

The course aims to familiarize students with the basic concepts and tools of management of organizations (whether for-profit or non-profit, small, medium and large) and to create a basis for further development of the acquired knowledge and skills in other follow-up courses of study and also to gain a comprehensive view of various areas of management. The lectures are focused on individual managerial functions, management trends and other knowledge related to the management of organizations. Exercises are application-oriented, focusing on the solution of real case studies from management practice, their presentation and discussion of possible solutions to problems and the presentation and discussion of students' seminar papers focused on the treatment of the core topics of the course on the example of selected specific enterprises or organizations.


Knowledge: the student knows the essence and content of individual managerial functions, understands the meaning and significance of various management directions and knows methods and techniques for solving typical situations in the implementation of various managerial functions.


 


Skills: The student is able to apply various management methods and techniques, e.g. evaluate and develop the mission, vision or goal of an organisation, analyse the suitability of the organisational structure of a particular organisation, find and assess opportunities and threats of a real organisation as a basis for planning, is able to assess the suitability of different leadership styles for different situations, etc.


 


General competences: The student is able to work and make decisions independently. The student is able to form his/her own opinion and defend it. They can also present the results of their work, whether in the form of a seminar paper or the results of case studies.
