The goal of teaching the subject is providing students with knowledge from the field of monetary economics, commercial and international banking and financial markets and explaining functioning of these fields in market economy in relation to specific needs of business. In particular, students will learn about the issues of exchange rates, interest rates, domestic and international payments and its institutions and instruments and about the offer of bank products for the needs of subjects. In seminars, students figure out calculations of market prices, stock and bond yields. interest from a credit, and they defend a seminar work on a given topic.
Knowledge: The student can describe products of banking sector ansd its products in the area of commercial, mortgage and investment banking. They can distinguish between individual types of financial markets and can explain the role of the central banking in an economy. They know fundamental monetary theories and forms of exchange rates.
Skills: Students can choose from products offered by commercial, investment, and mortgage banks and can practically use them for a company, household or a public sector. They are able to determine the market prices and the rate of profit of fundamental financiial assets (Stocks and bonds) and to calculate credit costs. They can use fundamentalpronciples of trading on financial markets.
General capabilities: The student is able to apply knowledge from the subject in making particular financial deals and making independent decisions with presentation of their own opinion. The student is able to be responsible for the outcome of his/her work, to create and interpret his/her opinion in a clear and convincing way, to present the results of his/her work.
